Flooding moves Brewfest

The 2017 Fremont Toyota Lander Brewfest is expected to be the biggest brewfest to date with brewers, vendors and more, according to Lander Chamber of Commerce officials.

However, expected flooding led organizers to move the event Wednesday from City Park to North Park.

Chamber Events Coordinator Dot Newton excitedly spoke about what is new at this year's brewfest, which will include more than 30 brewers.

"We have more brewers than ever before," she said, noting the vendor number is also record setting. "We have a full load of vendors as well."

Something new coming to the brewfest this year is a brewer from Jackson with a non-alcohol lemonade brew for people to taste.

Coming back is the brewery judging, Newton said. Beginning at 4 p.m., judges will be sampling wheat beer from brewers wanting to participate. The winner will be selected by the judges.

All weekend long, people will also get to vote for their favorite with their token, which is to be placed in the bucket of participating breweries to select their favorite.

Bands including Southern Avenue and Canyon Kids are set to take the stage at 7 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Newton also encouraged antendees to take advantage of the free designated drivers from Fremont Toyota at the event as well.

On Saturday, the city will also host a hearty breakfast for cyclists who will then take off for a cruise through town, a century ride around the county, or just about anything in between on one of the Fremont Area Road Toursupported routes.

Visitors are also invited to join the brewers for a round of golf at 9 a.m. at the Lander Golf Course, 1 mile south of Lander on Hwy. 287.
