Center of Hope plans fundraiser Thursday nightOct 23, 2016 From wire reports
Volunteers of America will hold its annual Empty Bowl Event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Fremont County Fairgrounds Fremont Center.
All funds raised at Empty Bowl go directly to the Center of Hope shelter in Riverton.
"The evening will be a wonderful way to not only raise money, but raise awareness for the Center of Hope," said Shelley Mbonu, Center of Hope program director. "We will have a silent auction, live music, a costume contest with prizes and games for kids while enjoying gourmet soups and taking homeunique bowls."
Volunteers of America operates the Center of Hope which partners with the city of Riverton and Fremont County to offer three days of close observation, as well as 14 days of social detoxification and up to three months transitional living for those struggling with addiction in our community.
Tickets for the event are available at the door with costs of $25 for families (two adults, four children), $10 for adults, and $5 for kids; children five and under are free.
"This event allows guests to enjoy a 'simple' dinner to emulate meals one might have at a soup kitchen. The bowls can be taken home to serve as a reminder throughout the year," said Skye Heeren, Wyoming's director of development and major gifts.
